Marauder Timeline
January 9, 1960 - Severus Snape is born.
March
10, 1960 - Remus J. Lupin is born. (He is bitten by Fenrir Greyback, a werewolf who specifically targets children,
sometime in this decade.)
Whomping Willow planted over entrance to the tunnel leading to the Shrieking Shack, which
no becomes haunted.
September 1, 1971 - The Marauders enter Hogwarts.
July/August 1975
- Remus Lupin and Lily Evans are named prefects for Gryffindor.
James, Sirius and Peter complete the complex spells
needed to become animagi.
Sirius sees cousin Bellatrix for the last time before they are both in Azkaban.
Sirius suggests that Severus Snape follow Remus through the passage beneath
the Whomping Willow as a joke. James stops Snape from going through, thereby saving his life.
June 1976
- James humiliates Snape (again) on the day of the DADA O.W.L.s for Sirius' amusement.
Sirius runs away from home and
is disowned by his family. He lives with the Potters for a while until he is legally old enough to rent a flat by himself.
July/August
1977 - James Potter and Lily Evans are named Head Boy and Head Girl.
The Marauders take their N.E.W.T.s and graduate
from Hogwarts.
Sometime during their seventh year Lily finally agrees to go on a date with James.
September
1978 - Sirius gets his own flat thanks to money he inherited from his uncle Alphard.
Peter Pettigrew starts
passing information to Voldemort, and becomes a Death Eater.
James Potter and Lily Evans are married presumably at
some point between grauation and July 1980.
Regulus Black tries to get out of being a Death Eater and is killed
on Voldemort's orders.
July 31, 1980 - Harry James Potter is born.
Severus Snape applies
for the DADA position at Hogwarts, Dumbledore hires him as Potions Master instead.
Bellatrix Black Lestrange is sent
to Azkaban along with Rodolphus Lestrange, Rabastan Lestrange, and Bartemius Crouch Jr. for using the Crutacius Curse on Frank
and Alice Longbottom, who are driven insane by the torture.
October 24, 1981 - Fidelius Charm is cast
on James and Lily with Peter as Secret Keeper.
Sometime between October 24 and October 31 - Peter
Pettigrew breaks the charm by telling Voldemort where to find Lily and James.
October 31, 1981 - Voldemort
shows up in Godric's Hollow to kill baby Harry. James presumably tried to fight him off while Lily tries to protect Harry.
While both are killed, the Killing Curse cast on Harry reflects back on Voldemort, stripping him of his powers and body.
November
1 or 2, 1981 - Peter Pettigrew fakes his own death and kills 12 Muggles in the process. Sirius Black is arrested.
November
1981 - Sirius Black is sent to Azkaban without a trial by Bartemius Crouch, Sr. He is 22 years old.
Peter
Pettigrew becomes Percy Wesley's pet rat Scabbers.
Sirius Black's mother dies. The house is left in the care of Kreacher,
her derranged house elf.
August 1991 - Percy Weasley gives Scabbers (Pettigrew) to his younger brother
Ron.
December 25, 199 - Harry is given James' Invisibility Cloak by Dumbledore, whom he left it with
before he and Lily went into hiding.
July 29 or 30, 1993 - Sirius Black escapes from Azkaban in animagi
form.
September 1, 1993 - Remus Lupin begins his tenure as DADA professor ar Hogwarts.
October
31, 1993 - Sirius Black attacks the Fat Lady.
December 1993 - Fred and George Weasley give
Harry the Marauder's Map, which ironically was created by Harry's father and his three best friends.
December
25, 1993 - Sirius Black sends Harry a Firebolt for Christmas.
September 1, 1993 - Remus Lupin
starts teaching Harry the Patronus charm to ward off Dementors.
June 6, 1994 - Peter Pettigrew is
cornered as Scabbers the rat and revealed. Escaping, he goes in search of Voldemort in Albania. Harry saves Sirius and himself
from the Dementors by finally casting the Patronus charm, which takes the form of a stag. Sirius escapes with Buckbeak.
June
1994 - Sirius Black gives Pigwideon to Ron to replace Scabbers.
March 1995 - Sirius Black
returns to Hogwarts, hiding in a cave near Hogsmeade and meeting Harry as Snuffles the loveable stray.
August
1995 - Harry is brought to 12 Grimmauld Place.
December 25, 1995 - Sirius gives Harry one
of the two two-way mirrors he and James created to talk to each other during separate detentions. Harry does not open this
present until June 1996.
April 1996 - Harry sees Snape's worst memory in his Pensieve, in which he
is turned upside down by James for Sirius' amusement.
June 1996 - Sirius Black is killed in the Department
of Mysteries, having been knocked through the Veil by Bellatrix Black Lestrange.
